Time of the Year for an Amazon Excursion and the Best Moment in October:

Choosing the right time of year for an Amazon fishing excursion is crucial to ensure the best possible experience in terms of weather, fish activity, and overall enjoyment. While the Amazon is accessible year-round, each season offers unique advantages and considerations for anglers. October stands out as one of the prime months for this thrilling adventure. Here’s a detailed explanation:

Seasonal Considerations:

a) High Water Season (Rainy Season): The high water season in the Amazon typically occurs from December to May. During this period, heavy rainfall causes the rivers and tributaries to swell, flooding the surrounding forests and creating expansive flooded areas. While the high water season can make certain areas more difficult to access due to flooded paths, it also provides access to new fishing grounds and hidden lagoons. The fish disperse into these flooded areas, leading to excellent fishing opportunities.

b) Low Water Season (Dry Season): The low water season usually spans from June to November. During this time, the water levels recede, exposing sandy beaches and riverbanks. As the waters become clearer and more concentrated, fish are often concentrated in deeper channels and pockets, making them easier to locate. The low water season offers better visibility for fishing and increased chances of spotting wildlife along the riverbanks.

The Best Moment: October

October is considered one of the best months for an Amazon fishing excursion due to several factors:

1. Optimal Water Levels: In October, the Amazon River is at a transitional phase between the high water and low water seasons. This means that water levels are gradually decreasing, but there is still plenty of water to explore the region efficiently. The reduced water levels expose numerous fishing spots that are not as accessible during the peak of the high water season.

2. Clearer Waters: As the water levels recede, the waters become clearer, providing improved visibility for both anglers and the fish. Clearer waters make it easier to spot fish, allowing anglers to target their desired species more effectively.

3. Concentrated Fish: During October, many fish species gather in deeper channels and pockets as the water levels continue to drop. This concentration of fish increases the likelihood of successful catches, as anglers can focus their efforts on specific areas where fish are abundant.

4. Comfortable Weather: October falls within the transition from the rainy season to the dry season. As a result, temperatures are often milder compared to the peak of the rainy season, providing more comfortable conditions for anglers during their fishing expeditions.

5. Abundant Wildlife: The Amazon rainforest comes alive with wildlife in October. Along with fantastic fishing opportunities, anglers may have the chance to observe diverse bird species, playful river dolphins, and other fascinating creatures that call the Amazon their home.

Overall, an Amazon fishing excursion in October offers a perfect balance between favorable water levels, improved visibility, concentrated fish populations, and comfortable weather. Anglers can anticipate a memorable adventure filled with thrilling catches, stunning wildlife encounters, and an unforgettable connection with the extraordinary Amazon rainforest.

Travel Expenses: The primary cost involves travel expenses, including airfare to Brazil and transportation to the Amazon region. Costs can vary depending on the departure location, time of booking, and travel class chosen. Usually from Poland and Europe, October is a best moment where the costs are lower than other periods of the year.

  • Airport Code is MAO

Accommodation: Accommodations in the Amazon can range from basic lodges to luxurious eco-resorts. The level of comfort and amenities will affect the overall cost.
